Guttman was a journalist from age 16, a UCLA film school grad, who at age 20 stumbled into employment in Hollywood’s dominant public relations firm, Rogers & Cowan and discovered a life’s vocation he could do with his eyes closed and even better with his eyes open. By 22 he was working in Paris on “Love In The Afternoon” with Gary Cooper, Audrey Hepburn, Billy Wilder and Maurice Chevalier. Superstars, he found, did not give him vertigo.
